The design concept for this ebook is to illustrate four core principles of: change, transitions from summer to fall, technology, and health care. All of these ways of knowing are ingrained in Indigenous cultural heritage. In the beginning of the book, I juxtaposed forms and shapes in sweetgrass, which represents positivity, with hard lines in architecture, and tools in health care. The ebook aims to teach medical students in early years of their training about Indigenous ways of living, and knowing health care. The buttons with plants and trees are fragmented and abstract on one side, and realistic on the other. The colours are from three of Farrow and Ball’s nine fall 2018 colours, and they are also sampled from the sweetgrass braid.
