Graphic Design

Since 2014, I have been a member of the Association of Registered Graphic Designers (RGD) as a student member [1]. I was also a Student RGD between 2005-2008. Here are a few projects that I have completed since 2006:

The design concept for this ebook is to illustrate four core principles of: change, transitions from summer to fall, technology, and health care. All of these ways of knowing are ingrained in Indigenous cultural heritage.

In the beginning of the book, I juxtaposed forms and shapes in sweetgrass, which represents positivity, with hard lines in architecture, and tools in health care. The ebook aims to teach medical students in early years of their training about Indigenous ways of living, and knowing health care. The buttons with plants and trees are fragmented and abstract on one side, and realistic on the other. The colours are from three of  Farrow and Ball’s nine new fall colours, and they are also sampled from the sweetgrass braid.

Overall, my goal in designing this ebook with the medical directors was to reference this need to transition away from Western ways of knowing medicine, in the visual and graphic communication of the ebook, and for students to fully realize the need to provide positive, helpful, and informed health care for, and with Indigenous patients in the GTA.
